A typical Shorinji Kempo practice will devote classtime to the following elements:

    Chinkon   Seated meditation and breathing exercises.
  Taiso   Warm-up and stretching.
  Kihon   Basic movements such as punches, kicks, blocks, footwork, rolls, and single forms.
    Howa   Lecture on technical and philosophical aspects of Shorinji Kempo.
    Hokei   Practicing pair-form techniques .
  Randori   Free-form application of techniques with a partner.
    Samu   Cleaning and preparing the room for practice.
